Crown Valley Traffic Relief Project : Transportation Transformation

Fact Sheet

Crown Valley Parkway will be widened to eight lanes from the I-5 freeway to the eastern city boundary just past Jardines.

The project is expected to be completed in mid 2008.

The project will be done in phases – or segments – and the city will attempt to keep six lanes open at all times to reduce traffic congestion during construction.

Much of the work will be done at night and at non-rush hour times when traffic is lightest.

Dual left turn lanes will be added in all directions at the Crown Valley Parkway/Marguerite Parkway intersection.

Dual left turn lanes will be added from Westbound Crown Valley to the entrances at the Shops at Mission Viejo as well as Medical Center Road.

Landscape improvements will include renovated medians with trees and foliage.

Hardscape improvements will include a retaining wall with a veneer facade and a sound wall.

Monuments – or pilasters – will be at installed in the median on Crown Valley at the east and west gateways to the project area.

The total cost of the project will be approximately $17.5 million and will be funded primarily through Ladera Ranch development fees as well as some funding through Measure M from the County of Orange and from federal funding. No city tax dollars will be used for this traffic relief project.
